There is joy in discovery. What can come from time, wood, tools, paint and the elements of art? I don't want to create a facsimile of something known; I want to discover something new -- something in and of itself, something possessing the aura of the unique, singular object.
While creating these works my thoughts include some of these ideas: systems - natural and imagined, in harmony, in conflict and in compromise; inflexibility in contrast with the fluid and arbitrary; rule and exception; superimposed, juxtaposed systems and randomness; pixilation, resolution, vantage point and zoom; and the collective and the individual.
When you bring your experiences to viewing these objects, everything you need to know is right there -- in front of, and inside of you. What do you see and feel? What is your discovery?
